mystery engine

Hi,
Ive just bought a 1965 series 2a with a Diahatsu deisel conversion.
I know nothing about the engine apart from the engine number 410740 and that it has a green sticker on top saying DG. Its a non turbo push rod engine.
It would be great to have something to go on when i need parts etc.
If anyone could tell me more about it that would be great.

DG series engines were popular conversions in the 90's.

They came in 2.5 or 2.8 litre variants and we're fitted in the Daihatsu fourtrac.

My 110 had a 2.5 fitted which I eventually removed and replaced with a 200tdi.

They are good strong engines with no timing belt to worry about.

They were turbocharged, so yours probably had the turbo removed to fit better between the chassis rails.

I had a commercial fourtrak without a turbo, so certainly they could be standard without turbo
