Hello to all,

Just posting some feed back.
For those of you who were reading my earlier threads about power and overheating this is the result after driving to Devon and back.

well.....as you know the power box was fitted. The box worked really well, cruse control on at about 55mph sat back and enjoyed the ride, no drag on any hill.
I added a on/off switch that seems to work though not sure whats going to happen when i go for a M.O.T, i'll turn it off and see.

The overheating problem.....I drilled a 8mm hole in the housing of the thermostat. Had an inline temerature switch fitted to the top water pipe that turns the aircon fans on at either 77 or 87 degrees, i chose the 87 degree option. I also had a manual switch option fitted to overide the thermostat to give me a permanent fan on should i feel the need to us it.
After testing the car i noticed that the thermostat operated switch worked, but when i took the key out of the ignition and walked away the air con fans were still running. So i fitted another switch giving me the option to cut the power from the fans and save on battery power.

I drove the car 290 miles to Devon with two fifteen minutes stops, drove around 50 miles during my stay at Devon and have just done the 290 mile return jurney. Although the aircon fans did kick in during some steep hill climbs carrying a boot full the engine temperature did not go above the half way on the gauge.
Overall a project well worth doing and would recomend it to any R/R owner who has a overheating problem.

The mpg read between 31mpg and 32mpg.

How did your French trip go?

Had a great time, weather was very good english (not hot french), visited various places local to Gourdon, excellent food and plenty of sangria, wine and a swimming pool.....Heaven....sadly, left yesterday 8am (french time) arrived home 7.45 pm (english) via calais/dover.

Only one problem the hole in the R/H rear wing........:eek::eek:.

Fuel figures to follow.....must open a bottle to numb the pain first.....:beer2::beer2::beer2:

Weather not good this summer. Hole in RH rear wing? Must be for petrol:eek::eek::eek: should have got a diesel:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::D:D:D

But what was the brim to brim figure, just out of interest???

Not quite sure but i'll total up the ££ when i get to the quarter mark on the gauge, thats when i originaly filled up.(the trip is still running).

One thing i do know is that i put £50 worth in on the way home and it was £1.49p/l RIPP OFF, And of course those steep hills probably wer'nt cheep...lol.

Great place though....nice beach...fantastic scenery.

Mike.

we're geting about 32/33 mpg out of our P38, so that sounds about right. Plus we're running on WVO/derv mix so it's a lot cheaper too

Data, I've got a dozzel, wouldn't consider a petrol, even running on gas.

12 days away, 1607.4 miles used 57.08 gallon of diesel, equals 28.16 mpg overall (brim to brim), cruise control not fitted, aircon on all the time apart from about an hour on the way down.

General running around Gourdon while on holiday , averaged 23.5 mpg.

1995 2.5DT manual gearbox with aircon.

Diesels Rule.

Pretty good then? Just a bit down on my auto:D

Not complaining at all, I'm just wondering if a cruise control would improve the figure due to correct fueling on the level ground, plus overun downhill and not a lead foot controlled waste of fuel.

Can a cruise control be fitted to a manual or only to auto gearboxes???
