youve lost me with the bird references.

Gold Rover I did call the thread 'my latest terrible idea', so I'm not claiming its logical. Lol.

I did actually live in a Nissan Serena for 6 months, backpacking in NZ. I reckon that and the Range are pretty close, spacewise.

Logical and these pages rarely go together :) I suppose a lot depends on age, height, physical condition, who else will be in it, etc, etc, etc. For me roof tent would be a bit of a push. Tailgate awning maybe. I am not as young, or able, as I once was, so something decent to sleep on is my big call. Get a decent sleep system , you don't need insulation , etc. Even in the freezy coldy, good kit is all that counts.

And a jetboil :D

I've spent quite a few nights dossing in cars/Landrovers, for me most important is to be warm enough, and for that I now use 2 cheapo sleeping bags, one inside the other, change them round in the morning to let the inner dry out. And crack a couple of windows to get air changes.

Save yourself the hassle of wet sleeping bags and buy one fom army surplus. I've used mine in all sorts of locations. Whilst the newer systems are decent, I still say the old maggots are best, and can be bought for as little as £20.

Addit: Just realised the maggot I still have is over 30yrs old, been all over the world, and still going strong :)
