After changing the front brake cylinder on a 68 series 2a we bled the brakes carefully. Made sure there was no air in the system.

When we came to testing it we found that you had to press the pedal once to get up the presure before they worked.

Are we doing something wrong or is the just air left in the system somewhere? if so how do we get it out?

Thanks

youve still got air in it somewhere.
try again. even more carefully this time.
landy/series brakes are a real nightmare to bleed sometimes.

Check the springs.
Top spring Leading shoe to post on back plate
Bottom spring shoe to shoe
(Assuming 10 drums all round)

If all ok then
check adjusters by setting them all hard on (Locking the wheel)
then test for spongy breaks (This will tell you if you have air in the system)
Also there will be some travel as the traling shoe wil be pulled off
If solid / firm pedal (Check again after 10 mins) then back each adjuster off in turn untill the wheel will turn forward easily and just start to bind going backwards.
Also check that you have the end float set correctly on the master cylinder.
