Hi guys. I'm looking at a Hi-cap landy for sale locally and it looks really good. Chassis and bulkhead are sound, 60k miles with a Tdi engine, 1994. My only doubt is the paint job, it's covered in what the seller describes as "NATO black rubberised paint"? What is this? Is it the regular matte army stuff or something special? I haven't gone to look at it yet, I'm not sure what to make of this weird paint being on a civvy Hi-cap!

Apart from the paint it sounds great, so some advice on how good this stuff will be in the long term would be very helpful! Cheers.

Great, thanks for the replies guys. It's not on the chassis or axles as far as I'm aware, it's just on the bodywork! I'll walk around it with a mallet tapping the panels to check for filler and get under it with the hammer, that should please the seller :D

I've been had with a landy before. Bought a right heap the first time I bought one. Luckily that means I should be able to spot the signs of most major problems as that one had most of them! I still have a lot to learn though!
