I'm thinking of getting memory map and have a few questions.

Is the 1-50,000 the one I need or 1-25,000

Also have been looking at prices. It would appear that a UK map at 1-50,000 is £200, but I can have this for £179

This also allows you to use the software on your computer and iphone, so it appears to be cheaper and you get the GPS thing.

Am I missing something :confused::confused:

I want it for Green Laning and if I got the small GPS thing it would be useful for bridleways when out on the horses.

1:50k is ok for laning, 1:25k is more for walking... as horses are half way between i guess if you can afford it i'd get the 1:25k, but, if not 1:50k shouldn't limit you. Maybe get the 1 or 2 1:25k for your area for the horses? (you can buy the individual maps on memory maps)

I wouldn't expect you can have every 1:25k map on the gps thing at the same time as they'll take up too much space, but, you could have the whole country in 1:50k on at the same time.

Thank you :D

I like the 1:25000 myself, because it's got (most of) the field boundaries on it and you can therefore position yourself much more accurately in rural areas where it's not entirely obvious on the ground where the path or byway is. Because I'm a cheapskate, and have already spent all my money on Land Rover repairs, I go to streetmap.co.uk and do a few screen captures of their 1:25000 OS covering the area I'm interested in, and look at those on the tablet instead of Memory Map. OK, you don't have the 'you are here' dot, but it costs nothing!
