further to my thread a couple of days ago, does anybody know the bhp of the mazda/perkins 4182 3ltr turbo diesel, its in a rangie auto, just asking as i find conflicting stories

Hi used to have a classic with 4182 in it it was terrible. changed it for a 4203 which was better but the diffs wire too low so had to change those as well. then it needed soundproofing. but it would pull a house down and climb a wall

Google suggests 125 to 140 bhp depending on if an intercooler is fitted.

You sure you got that the right way round ? the 4203 is a right plodder 2800 revs max 60mph flat out, the 4182 turbo would be far better in an auto. Had a go in a range rover with manual box non turbo engine years ago and thought it was pretty quick.

Yes certain the 4182 was non turbo it was painful this was back in early 80,s

getting conflicting answers again, i think datatek is on it, allthough seems a big difference with intercooler fitted

I've seen 4 different outputs quoted, those were just the extremes
