Anyone else here taking part in the Mac 4x4 this year ? The event is a
navigation rally, of around 1000 mile extent, with the aim of raising
money for the Macmillan nurses - the rally will raise enough to finance
at least two nurses AFAIK this year. Liz and I are taking part in our
101GS, in memory of my uncle who was nursed to the end by the
Macmillans....and of course we are looking for any sponsorship and
support we can get. If anyone is interested in helping, please contact
me off list.

Thanks

I believe they have a raffle at the end - if so consider a hi-lift
jack donated (or equal value) - remind me nearer the time to get it
delivered or whatever.

They do, the endpoint is usually something like Runcorn, or Daresbury.

Thanks

This march we all finished at the daresbury park hotel, near runcorn.
2005 was "chucked together" because the MOD sites were pulled, but we
all ended up driving round some forest at 3am, in whiteout blizzard
conditions, and no checkpoint as we ;eft the forest. Many of us were
not checked in until 7am the following morning when the event
restarted.

For safety, a marshall ought to have been posted at the exit of the
stage to make sure everyone got out, rather than wait until the
following morning, people could have died of hypothermia in the
conditions we had.

Other than that it was an event that I largely enjoyed, but work
commitments prevent me from taking part in 2006.

I'm a bit worried, because this is our first ever rally event, we're in
a bloody big 101 and there are no published rules yet.

Well, seeing as I seem to have skanked you 50 odd quid in a drug
inspired stuper (should take drugs at work, may make my accountant
happier) and also seeing as you were apparently happy to be skanked
for such amount on the basis of some misguided 'friendship' nonsense,
I feel it my duty to offer 50 quid in sponsorship for a GS doing the
MAC. Good job Lizzy is navigating, though :)
