Just checking the 110 over before it goes in for it's mot on monday, and guess what the fog light wont work.
Firstly would it fail the mot on that?

I am not really electrickery minded but I changed the fuse , it blew immediately,

Took the bulb out , tested across the fuse points and it looks like a short, but I'll be buggered if I can find where its shorting. What can I do ,HELP PLEASE.

Did whip the switch out yesterday and have a quick look at it but to be honest wouldn't know what I was looking for how can I check that it's not shorting?

Ok so I've just run a c ouple of wires from the existing switch (which is in the off position ) to a new switch, tried it and blew the fuse again. What now?

Disconnect the switch block and replace the fuse. Put a test light across the positive and negative connectors. Does the test light illuminate or does the fuse blow? If it lights up then your problem is from the switch to the light unit. If the fuse blows then it is from the switch to the fuse box/feed.

If it is from the switch to the light then you can either trace the wires back until you find the problem. (It is most likely to be chafing the bodywork near the rear of the tub where the wires exit to the lamp). Or you can run a new wire from the switch to the lamp.

follow yer wire from switch to light, yer probably chaffed a wire somewheres.

Tried doing that yesterday the only place I couldn't really get to was right inside behind the light itself behind a sturdy protective flap and here the wire seemed to be encased in some sort of sleeve. The wires go up into the tub get lost into a mass of others and then exit to the underside.

Would that be just one single wire from the switch and if so how do I identify which terminal from the switch to run it from? Will the warning lamp on the dash still work?

Couldn't find the fault ,though it wasn't for lack of trying my knuckles alone are testament to that, just ran a new wire through, works fine. As long as in years to come I don't look at the spare wire and scratch my head wondering what its for. may just get a professional to give it the once over, not altogether confident of my abilities ,hence the name.
