LT230 Oil

Hi guys

just bought a new transfers box from Ashcrofts big sticker saying no oil user 75w ep90 on it the book says ep 90 gl4/5

before you moan i have done a search found out many thing but not this.

Gl4 EP90 75w oil for my lt230 transfer box

trouble is either I'm being a bit thick or it doest seem to be easy to find at 75w

and some that i have have been gl5 which supposedly dissolve bronze etc so will avoid if i can

can i use ep90 80w am i right in thinking its just a little thicker viscosity ?

its only the sticker from ash crofts that show 75 w the rest seems pretty open

it's 75w/90 multigrade. NOT 75 or 90

it's thinner when cold to lubricate, then at temp is 90

though straight ep90 is fine. same with 80w/90

early gl5 used to be harsh on bronze. newer inhibitors formulations should be better.

stick to gl4 if you can find it.
