This is my second year of very low mileage for my Freelander 2. It was new Feb 2013, so its 9 years old, well garaged overnight, mileage in this year of lockdown is just 1,800, total miles since new 41,200. The service advice says replace auxiliary belt after 9 years or 144,000 miles, but is this really necessary at my low mileage?

Hello and welcome :)
its the age that will make it deteriorate, rubber breaks down with age, think of the problems if it lets go whilst your driving.

Based on mileage or age, which ever comes first.
