I had exactly the same trouble with my RR. It was down to the alternator, it
was only a week old. I had to have the original one changed on holiday in
the Highlands by the LR dealer in Inverness after it was found to be
overcharging the battery on the drive up from the Midlands. It lasted a week
and started playing up and pulsating on the drive home. When back in
Solihull, I took it to Evans Halshaw on the Stratford Road and explained
that it was knackered and that it was fitted by a Land Rover Dealership in
Inverness, they told me that they had fitted the wrong type and that they
were not going to do anything about it, ****s. So I rang the Inverness
branch from the forecourt of the Solihull LR dealership and the Manager in
Inverness was first class and sorted out a replacement and fitting the same
day at the Lucas dealer in Aston, Birmingham.
The Evans Halshaw Dealership in Solihull, Stratford Road are a bunch of
tossers, in my opinion and my mothers. She wanted a Freelander, she knew
what she wanted and had the CASH on her. She went in to Evans Halshaw and
asked someone if she could look at the Freelander in the show room, she was
told that there was a 'Team Meeting' and there wasn't anybody to help her.
She just walked out and drove to the Droitwich dealer.
............... sorry, where was I, yes it was the alternator that had packed
up.
I seem to get a fair bit of trouble with the shop bought factory re-con
alternators.
