I'm about to do the entire headlining using the How To from Dopey.
I found Fabrics online who do a Faux Suede in varying thicknesses.
Log in and they will send you swatches of material.

..but did you manage to get the right fabric that matches the original? Don't want it too brushed.. or too sheer.

Just rip the fabric off and give it a coat of emulsion

No, its a little different but, I have striped the old off the headlining and replacing the entire lining and doing away with the sunroof cover.
I've not done the sunroof cover yet, its dirty but in tact if its any use to you, you're welcome to it

matt bathroom/kitchen paint in the right colour is indistinguishable from the original fabric unless you touch itJust rip the fabric off and give it a coat of emulsion

it's cheap, easy, quick, never sags, doesn't absorb fag smoke or doggy smells and you can touch it up if you scuff it with luggage..Like it

Not the cheapest I've seen, but you get the correct glue (and I only want to do this once). It's quite bright. Give me 5 mins I'll do a comparison photograph ..

Right,
The cloth on the left is the old lining (16 years old) from a Lightstone leather interior.
The one on the right is the Oyster Grey I've just got from AS Fabrics.
The thing in the middle is one of the white plastic bag clip things from Ikea so you can see what white might look like.
The orange crumbs all over the place are the old foam backing that falls off everywhere whenever you touch your old roof lining.
Oyster Grey is lighter than the old one, even though of course it's cleaner. The old one is a warmer tone, whereas the Oyster Grey is exactly that. Just medium grey. The finish is a sort of mesh weave rather than the brushed nylon of the original. Not matte, but also not sheer either. It looks a lot like the lining modern cars use.
It comes on 3mm think fire retardant foam, and I hope it'll spruce up the interior nicely. I also got some vinyl leather type stuff from the same place to do the pillars. Scraping of the old covering is a flocking awful job. Then getting the glue residue off is even more flocking awful.
Does anyone have any advice for a good solvent to use that won't damage the plastic of the pillar covers?

I'm going to do the sunshade in the same fabric.
My sunshade has been black plastic for a few years already though! It was falling down when I bought the car.
Last saturday the whole back half detached. I couldn't see out of the back, and it was resting on my kids heads, so I've decided to bring this project forward!
One thing at a time though.
