led recovery lights

hi guys im new to the group at the moment but owned land rovers for the past 3 years.
I am currently driving a defender 90 and I want to put recovery lights behind the rear windows and in the front grill.

has any body any experience or suggestions to help me out don't know what to go for at the moment.

I assume by "recovery lights" you mean amber strobes?

You can spend a fortune on these, but I bought some cheapo ones off Ebay and they've been fine for what i've needed (mine are on a Disco and are discretely mounted on the rear roofbar, front roofbar and on the front grille). If you're regularly going to be using them "on road" for protecting the vehicle then you might want to go for something a bit brighter - mine were aimed more for use on event sites and have been fine.

Please do remember that, contrary to what you might see on the roads day to day, there actually are rules and regulations governing the use of flashing amber lights.

Indeed!

Mine get used off road, on private land / event sites on a fairly regular basis.

I have used them on road on previous vehicles when broken down, or when assisting another vehicle which had broken down, for safety - either instead of or as well as hazard lights. In fairness one of the settings on my current strobes causes them to flash in the same manner, and at a similar speed, to my hazard lights.

I have also, at the request of the police, used them in my previous job when attending incident scenes, or when driving within roads which were cordoned off to general traffic.

on road isn't going to be much of an issue as it will be mainly off road or the occasional breakdown (not as often as you'd think) I was just wondering if there was a certain brand to avoid or if most of the sets out there are alright, if the cheaper ones work then ill save some pennies and get the cheaper ones.

The other advantage i've found with the cheaper Ebay sets is when I've changed cars i've just bought a new set, and let the old set go with the car, rather than the hassle of un-wiring it all.
