Leaking half shaft seal and split gaiter. Do i have to drain

Next job is the front half shaft seal on the p38
Do you have to drain the axle before pulling out the half shaft
Does it just pull out the diff with the wheel bearing carrier attached.
Do you have to split the cv to put the gaiter on

hi willows if you jack it high enough you wont need to empty oil yes you can pull with wheel bearing attached,but if you need to do gater you need to take off cv joint any ways so do it before you take it all off in one go

Do you mean take large nut off at the end of the half shaft and remove from hub to get cv off ?

yes if your doing gator remember cv is connected to the half shaft
