Hi folks,

this is definitely a scam, had about 30 similar emails when I sold my van via ebay. Each and every one asks about wire transfer / cashier check. What happens is you get the supposedly cleared funds in your bank account, so you send the item. 90days later, even though the funds had cleared, the bank (legally) recalls the payment and you end up out of pocket, and minus the item. Reply to the seller you will only accept cash on collection and see how he squirms or loses interest.

I had this one, it's from Holland.

They give you the check, it shows up in your account so you think it's cleared, you give them your car and some cash, the cheque bounces (which it can do!) and you lose the car and however much cash you gave the "courier" for transit. I responded with "you turn up at my house with the cash and it's yours" - and never heard anything again!

I've had a reply, persistent little c*** isn't he?? AND the spelling's got worse!! :D :D :D

[FONT=Arial Black, Geneva, Arial,
Sans-serif]Hi and thanks for expressing an interest in the vehicle for sale.
The car is still available for sale @ £2995 and will ONLY be released when payment has been cleared/accepted by my personal bank.
It will categorically not be released beforehand.
I am sure that you are aware of the amount of scammers on the internet and as I do not know you personally, with respect I am interested, but I will approach with caution.
Please also be aware that I will not hesitate in reporting you to the internet fraud dept of the Metropolitan Police if this is the case.
If you are genuine, you may send a shipping agent direct to collect the car, preferably with checkable details, once my bank has confirmed payment.
Many thanks,

WTF!!! :eek:

a payment into your bank being "cleared" doesn't mean squat. it can still be recalled - that includes bank drafts / cashier's cheques.
you need confirmation from your bank that the payment has been "given value" - then it's yours irrevocably.
this takes up to 10 working days.

Cheers chap,
Good advice.
Already knew that, just thought I would play it along a little bit to see how far it will run....
