Hi Guys
On my 6th 109, Series III...a special version adapted in South Africa for our conditions called an R6 (Series 3S)
This one needs a bit of work, but has galv chassis and rims, raised suspension and now a Nissan 2.8L petrol with electronic ignition.
BUT, I have just got my FIRST Disco....2005 TD5, manual everything...enjoying the learning curve!

Cheers

Welcome to LZ. If you spent a bit of time looking around here you'll know pictures are compulsory. Says so in the rulz somewhere ;)

Oki Doki!

Starting with my latest (1 week now) Disco purchase, then my White Series IIIS, and my 'Ol Red, my Essex V6 powered pickup!

HI and Welcome aboard!! Thanks for the pics - like them, especially the V6 power ... Mmmm ...

Tell us more about that if you don't mind :)

Thanks for the welcome!

I found her in a back lot, being used as a "dump" for the local electrician's excess...and a drinking spot for vagrants when it was raining in Pinetown, near Durban here in South Africa.....some flat tyres, but with what I immediately recognised as a Ford 3L Essex V6 block in her, I was keen. I had already once owned a V6 powered 109, and if you use them correctly, i.e. don't rev too high, they are amazing.

Interestingly, the vehicle had already once been cleared by the police, so when I offered a princely sum of R4500 for her, I was tickled pink to begin yet another project....
I found an engine out of a Ford Sierra, and cleaned her up and placed in the chassis, with a pair of stainless side pipes to clear the traffic when I was coming through! A larger radiator is always a good idea here, so a 4-core was added. If you have a Salisbury diff, all is well, as the splines are stronger. This did!

She behaved well, as long as revs were generally below 3500 rpm...awesome, fun for the dogs and capable as hell!

A farmer/collector bought her from me...I still miss her today....she was called Ol Red, the Moses of the taxi seas, coz when the saw my bullbar in their rearview mirrors, they parted to let me through!

Cheers all!
