Hi all,

Recently purchased the above car. When I was replacing the bulb on the rear right hand back light - I noticed that somebody had decided not to purchase a new back light when they had broken it and had masticed it to actually made sure it stayed in place (where the top and bottom nipples were).

Got a new light - just tried to fit it - everything going well, but had to pull it out again as the screws were going in. And of course - the bottom nipple (black) has broken!!!! So I'm back to square one.

Can you just purchase the bottom nipple? If so - what' the part number?

If not - how do you get it off of the light (I have a spare broken light with one on it)?

Cheers.

A photo always helps, does anything on here look familiar ?

Hi holidaychicken,

Yes it does - many thanks. Can I buy these parts online - anywhere recommended?

Many thanks Leigh.

yes all the parts are available online , if you go to the website and click on the part number you want a table will pop up with the landrover part number and then you can search google, can you identify which part you need from the page i posted ?

Well I'm half way there. I was mistaken - the 'nipple' that I thought was one of the parts, isn't (see bottom right of the screen grab attached). I'm not seeing a part number so I'm guessing I can't buy that part and need to buy a new light assembly.......

Yes - that's the one. Yes on the new light - it is broken. I have the old one that isn't broken, but no idea on how to get that one off to put it on the new light....

Looks like it could be part of the light unit then, trick is to try and remove it without braking it, I would cut round it with a dremel and try and work out how to graft it back on with chemical metal, you never know it might just pop off, or it might just break when you try..
Options then, buy a new standard light, or upgrade now to aftermarket LED or 2010 onwards rear lights ...

Or whittle up a cable tie with a half inch dowel, like a tee, big enough to fit in hole you've created, then configure it with something to tension it to the body, maybe another tee set up with ties, imagine you are in the back of beyondshire and this is really important, and your 10000 miles from an ebay listing!!!

Areldite? Self tapper? Umbrella toggle?
