knocking

I have an issue with my 2001 TD4 freelander, it has developed a knock which seems to be coming from my propshaft this gets worse when turning left or right but is not there when in reverse and tends to move to a loud humming noise when moving at speed, has anybody got any idea what this could be please. somebody has mentioned rear diff bushes or the VCU
