get a knock that's on the drivers side foot well

on the left hand side where the floor panel joins the tunnel , around where u rest ur foot and back a little bit , keep getting a slight knock

it's annoying more than anything

even get it sometimes at tickover

can't get underneath to look but trying to think what it could be

are there any mounting there and what side does the exhaust come down plse as for the life of i can't remember

thks guys , just frustrating I can't get underneath the car myself

has anyone happen to have any pics from around this area please, am starting to look if I can find any to try and possibly see what this annoying bloody knock is ,

Hi gstuart.
I could be the lower engine mount changed mine today link below.
http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f9/tie-rod-support-272756-2.html

cheers buddy

will have a look and thks for the pics, can see how that would vibrate on the cross member

it's not bad but don't want to get to the stage where it becomes really bad

prefer to nip things in the bud

find it very frustrating that I can't get under the car , or do these mountings

I may have to see if I can try and find a garage but they want silly money and all the bull that comes with it,

it's not the getting under the car it's the getting up , lol

done abit of reading and see there are 3 x mountings including what looks like a hydraulic one

2 x lower and one on top ???

on the lower mountings can u tell if they've gone with a bar etc and excess movement

may I ask are the mounting very exoensive do u know please

thks again

I just replaced the lower and upper tie rods on mine. The engine mounts are at the top and the engine hangs from them (on my K series anyway) I think if your tie rods were knackered you would feel the engine rocking when pulling away and when lifting off the throttle.

Edit just had a thought. If one of the engine mounts were loose the engine would be hanging at an angle and may knock against the transmission tunnel. If that is your problem it needs fixed pronto.

had a look at the top engine mountings today and saw the large hydraulic one on the left hand side

with the engine running the engine hardly moves so don't think it would be that

it sometimes does it when on tickover and when driving may get an occassional knock on my left foot as i rest it out of the way on the auto floor pad

got a pair of ramps and maybe can put it up onto them and see if I can pin my son down to have a look for me

thks again

Not sure what you mean by hydraulic. This is a pic of the drivers side engine mount and upper tie rod. There will be a similar mount on the passanger side but no tie rod.

The yellow bit is the large bush I've just replaced. The two bolts at the bottom of the alloy swoopy thing are the bolts holding the engine up.
If yours is an Auto it might be different of course.

Have you run over an angry dwarf with a hammer? If so park in a ford and drown the little feker. :)
