Hello there :D

Is there anyway possible to change the actual KM reading on the speedo to MPH. I've an Irish TDV8 which is now in the North, I've replaced the fascia with a Lockwood one to get me through MOT etc but I now would like the reading to be MPH.

If I buy a second hand speedo unit would it pick up the correct mileage from the ECU?

Thanks in advance ;)

Best regards

Should be able to change that with diagnostics. Be careful if you fit a new speedo i think the mileage will go to the highest value stored. Either in the BECM or the speedo. If it's the same setup as the P38 if you have a 50,000 mile car and you fit a speedo from one that's done 150,000 you will have a 150,000 mile car PDQ.

Not if you only change the speedo itself and not the instrument cluster. I looked at doing it on my P38 but it's a PITA to do.

Thanks for the replies and sorry for the delay in coming back :) I thought I'd have got email updates if I got a reply, and couldn't remember the forum

It's a middle of the year 07. The dealer didn't seem to think they could change the reading to miles with their machine.

Should I be looking for an independent garage with good diagnostic software? Pitty there wasn't a switch on the dash. I've the facia done just the reading to do. There's like 180,000 km's on it, 111000 miles is easier on the eye.

Edit: Yes the oddometer reading is in km, I would like it to be in miles. I know there's guys that could put it to 111k (Or anything you want for that matter), but the increments would be in km's obviously.

Best regards

Dedicated diag can change it but maybe not the do nearly everything but not quite all stuff most garages have these days.
