Hi I'm Giles and I have a 1984 series 3 lightweight LHD 2.25 petrol, pic here:

It has been living out in Spain since 2004 but later this month I am going out there to drive it back to the UK. Not sure what to with it then, its been my holiday transport when out at my and my mates holiday apartment these last three summers.....

Haven't decided if I shall sell it or keep it yet..... I like the way it looks, its just a pig to drive.

I had some stuff done to my Lightweight when I got it in 2004: parabolic springs, stage 1 unleaded cylinder head (Turner) high ratio transfer box, basically things to make it more practical on the road.

I think what I would like to end up with for next summer is basically a hybrid: I love the look of the lightweight, but the combination of slowness, bone-jarring ride, wobbly steering, no PAS, clunky gearchange (and no 5th gear) etc etc is a bit much. Even though I have got used to it, most of my mates don't like driving it. I would like to end up with a lightweight body with a totally more modern drivetrain, suspension etc under the skin.

The best way to get to this, I don't know.

Giles..
