In actual fact, it flew through the MOT, the only point to note is a slightly loose drag link ball joint, which is about £8 to replace. The tester's first comment was "bloody hell, this is in good nick" and when under the car he said "very, very solid, never seen a chassis as good on one of these." Great news all round, then.
However, this is odd. During the emissions test he stuck the sensor up the exhaust and was holding the revs at around 3,000rpm studying his screen. Over his shoulder I noticed the speed was waving about between 50-70mph and, stranger still, the tacho was turning over, clocking up the miles!!
I didn't alert him to this of course, and after a minute or so the speedo dropped to zero and didn't twitch again until I went to drive away, but what on earth could cause it to think it was moving? I assume the speedo sensor is on the gearbox, but it was in Park at the time - so how was it clocking up miles?! Very odd!
Anyway, over the moon it passed with such flying colours, great news
