Hi everyone I'm in need of some advice.. I have a 2002 Range Rover l322 4.4 V8 vogue. The issue is with the radio/sat nav, my problem is I can get sound but only for 2-5 minutes at a time, when It goes off if I turn it off and on again it will repeat the above process !! Also I have nothing showing on the screen all I have is a blank screen ( except for the back light ) the radio does have a red light that flashes but that's it.. I have power going to the cd multi changer in the glove box and also power to the sat nav in the boot as the red light is on, but still no display and intermittent sound . I have checked for water/condensation but the boot is 100% dry. At first I thought maybe it was the amp in the boot but if I'm getting sound I've been told it won't be that... any help would be very much appreciated as not having a radio is annoying.. thanks in advance

It may be worthwhile updating the software.
When I bought my Discovery 3 the PO said there was a fault with the audio of the radio.
I updated the audio software with a Diagnostic reader and so far all is good.

if the sound is cutting out after 2-5 minutes then comes back at some time then cuts out again after 2-5 minutes it sounds like a thermal trip in the amp..

heats up, cuts out.. cools off comes back on, heats up, cuts out.... rinse and repeat ?

Ok silly question time...... how do you update software with a reader? I have the blank screen issue, not bothered doing anything about it as sounds still work, I know how to use a map so dont need satnav and much more important things have taken my money on here. But curious, just in case there is ever a day when she lets me treat her, instead of demanding I spend money on her ............ as if!

True you don't have much of a navy

Dont know what motor you have?
But on the Disco 3 with the GAP IID reader, you can flash the software to a later version than what your vehicle left the factory with.
I've managed to add the 4x4 info screen to the inbuilt screen and also add a clock to the LCD panel at the speedo and update the audio software.
Just had the reader a few days so still playing with it.

I was thinking the same thing as gold Rover, how do you update software with reader?
Ukadamwest if thermal trip then I'm guessing that would mean a new amp. Sound goes of after 2-5 minutes but only comes back on when I turn radio off and then back on and it will then go off again in 2-5 minutes. Sound is more important to me that display as I can't take anymore of my wife's singing

Sounds like it's worth a try tbh. Will see what I can do tomorrow

not necessarily a new amp. maybe just a dying transitor or capacitor. there may be an electronics place near you that could service it.. maybe have a chat with gb4x4 radios ?
