Is this MPG any good ?

OK filled the TD5 to the brim, towed a 1800kg caravan and family, dog fully loaded to wales 129miles of up and down hills, did 1hour off off road 5 - 10mph bumps and mud up a track, came back to Coventry minus caravan doing 70 - 80 all the way so another 129 miles, light comes on at 395 miles covered in total and i know i have another 25 miles max left in the tank so all in all 420 miles to the tank. what do you reckon, good or bad ?

Have a run to Brighton tomorrow again Cov to brighton, motorway all the way 160 miles in total, so will let you know how she fairs.

av works out around 21-22 mpg assuming the td5 has the same size tank as a 200 tdi (88 ltr) so not bad really me thinks with the hauling you did. My 200tdi averages 30 mpg not towing anything and probs be down to 25mpg with that sort of load.

You would have saved a fortune doing 60 - 65 instead of 70 - 80, that would have wasted a massive amount of fuel

i think about 60/65 i plenty fast enough me self too.

Your fuel economy sounds good to me - in our 95 Disco 300TDI we get an average of 23mpg off-roading and running around and when we pulled our caravan at the weekend (1000kg) we only got 17mpg! we were only doing a max of 55 - 60 as well! :crazy_driver:

Second that! Keep it below 60 and you should get close to 30mpg - better on a run. May be slightly better still if you use a bio mix or BP Ultimate. I get about 34mpg on my TD5 auto on the motorway at 60, not towing.

yeah sounds ok to me, i get 27 normal driving, and about 20 when im up in the mountains.

Well brighton and back, 340 miles and just one notch below half a tank, did 70 or below at all times with cruise on. Im well happy with her.Will update total milage when near to run out 15 miles after light on.Cheers for all the comments

could be worse you could have a v8 with no lpg:doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh:

Would have saved EVEN MORE if you did 56, anyhow you couldn't have been doing that speed as it's illegal to go over 60 if you have a trailer!
