Hi All, well where to begin. I am Alan Lee 53 yrs old married currently self employed gardener living in a village west of Hull.
My background is time served mechanic light and heavy vehicles starting life in a council repair depot in Beverley, apprenticeship complete I left to join British Aerospace as a Air frame fitter and at the same time joined the Army Reserve as a commando Engineer serving 11 yrs culminating in a regular enlistment during the Kosovo Mission.
I hated the repetition of building the same Aircraft parts in a factory environment so left to return to the motor trade briefly including a short time working for a Land rover main dealer before leaving to set up self employment as a gardener which lead to me giving up my self employed position and working for one of my wealthy customers looking after 9 acres of land and designer gardens, golf green and a manager position which allowed me to own a Freelander 2 sd4 le sport auto my pride and joy.
After 4 Yrs of hard work my employer decided to make me redundant in November for no apparent reason although every major job was done and His wife disliked me from the start so I suddenly found myself with no money, savings or job and in the run up to Christmas too, needless to say I lost my Freelander 2 and a few other perks of been on a good wage.I immediately set myself up again self employed and have a growing customer base but I missed the loss of my FL2 more than my job,I have to realise I can no longer afford the fuel and upkeep costs af a new vehicle and having purchased a fiesta 1.25 that runs on fresh air for the wife and a transit connect for my business I was at a loss as to how I can ever have a Landrover again.
Where theres a will theres a way to coin a phrase I am looking at a FL1 commercial cheap project to turn into my work vehicle as parts are cheap etc etc and I know it doesn't sit comfortably with many but I'm going 2 wheel drive with rear prop on and off as needed for fuel reasons and a td4 engine.
I guess I have always loved land rovers and I will have one somehow so heres looking forward.
Happy new year to you all and hopefully a pic of my old FL2 should have uploaded too,all the best Alan.
