Anyone know whats required to retro fit intermittent wiper function on 1990 def 90? I'm getting fed up with having the wipers on all of the time in light rain! I've been looking at the wiper stalks on ebay but which one do I need? also do I need to change the wiper motor? I take it I will need a new relay?

Without going through the links thoughtfully posted above I can confirm it is a simple job which can be done using standard parts, expect fitting to take about an hour.

You need a new stalk with intermitant position, timer relay and harness. The type of stalk depends on the type of connectors on your existing one (black or white plug), the timer relay is the standard part and the sub harness is only available from Autosparks (speak to them as they don't list it on the website).
The normal position for the timer relay is behind the fusebox which means feeding the relay block behind the lower section of the dash (very tight) however a much simpler solution is just to coil up the spare cable and mount the relay behind the clocks, there is plenty of room and several places where you can fix the relay where it is out of the way.

Excellent conversion and almost brings the vehicle into the 20th century!!!

Litch, the last but one link is your post and details of the Autosparks sub harness.

Autosparks now list it on their website, but no pics, the last link is to its details page.

If you want a cheaper fix, simply extend middle finger, flick the switch up, quickly followed by flick the switch down.

The distinct advantage of this fitting is that it's free, has an infinite number of wipe intervals and can, at the very last second, automatically operate continuous wiping by simply retracting said middle finger. Finally, you are assured that this method is not subject to additional poor earthing.
