L322 Intermittent Siren Issue

Hi guys.

2006 Vogue TD6

Bit of a strange one, got an intermittent siren issue.

The siren sometimes beeps with the central locking and sounds off if I open the doors using the key.

Other times it doesn't do anything.

Anyone had this issue before?

Checked fuses, wiring etc, everything seems fine. Just a tad confused.

1) Sounds like US Rental cars - they always beel when locking & unlocking ?

2) Don't open the door wiht the key - use the FoB.

I like the chirps/beeps when locking and unlocking, extra peace of mind the car does what i want it to.

The keys were knackered when I bought the car and the fuse for the siren was pulled so it didn't sound when the previous owner got into the car using the key. I've since got new keys and want the alarm working properly again.

Just finding it odd that sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. May get a second one and see if I can open it and replace the batteries and capacitors on the circuit board in case that's the issue.

The battery life in the P38 B BUS sounder is about 10 years so if it's NiCad or NiMh quite likely it's knackered

Ah maybe that's why my siren has never worked, I'll put it my list of things to look at when I'm bored with nothing else to fix

The siren in my Saab failed for dead batteries and just sounded off, usually at 3am or when driving past police cars. May have a look to see if I can buy a new one as they're often glued together.
