I have a 2001 Defender 110 TD5 and im having problems with my interior light.
The light can turn on and off but on the center possision it does not turn on when you open the door.
So i took the light apart and checked everything cables, connections, ground ect. Everything looked in order.

I took one of the door switchs off and it looks rusty and old but looks like it should work.
When i put it back and put in the screw to ground the switch the light come on and goes off after about 10-15secs but if a press switch it doesnt come on agian.

Is it the switch or something else that is stopping it from working?

sounds like the switch, to be sure just remove the switch from the fame and ground the ire to see if it works ok and stays lit, if so pop to your nearest motor world and pick up a ne switch for a few quid, i replaced both of mine last week.

Ya i am starting to think it might too. When i ground the cable on the drivers side it comes on but when i do it on passanger side it doesnt. So im guessing there is something more serious on that side.

Will get two switchs and see what happens.

might be a break in the cable on the passengers side i would follow the wire as far as you can and see if you can find the break, if all else fails you can run a spur off the drivers side or take it direct from the loom, should be a purple and white wire if i remember correctly. let me kno if you need any more info on this, shouldn't be too hard to sort out.
