50 quid 50 bloody quid for a stat!
Anyway todays job, twice last week it failed to reach operating temp on my usual run so new stat it was, not hard to do at all just a lots of stuff to remove to get at it from above, I reckon it might be possible from below but would be very fiddly as theres 6 pipes connected to the stat assy the pipes are okay its them damned spring loaded clips.
Basically looks to me like std stat with bypass shut off built in, I also believe the system woks on pressure as well as temp, but not 100 percent on that.

I would like to say I was paying attention as to where the pipes went but was more concerned with getting them all sat in the right orientation to stop them twisting or rubbing, theres an awful lot of pipes down there.
I havent driven it since, will be testing on way to work later.

I have now found the stat on ebay for 40 quid again only appears to be available as genuine and Im not sure I would be happy with a pattern one.

Pic the bunch of clips bottom right is the stat itself.

The fan belt has one tensioner bottom left the top right one is also called a tensioner but is in fact fixed
The cable tied pipe on the right in conduit is a/c
The pipe between a/c pipe and pas pulley is pas pipe
The plug on the right is for the viscous fan
The pipe to the right of the plug is the turbo intake
The three small pipes under the crank pulley are to the pas rack
The braided pipe on the left is intercooler to the large plastic manifold top left of the pic
Pipe very bottom left is rad hose
The three pipes bottom of the pic are coolant hoses to somewhere! egr and possibly heating I would guess
Oh yeh theres two much smaller pipes just out of sight bottom of pic and they lead to the fuel cooler.
Grey sensor top of pic is coolant temp
Temp sensor fits into T-piece which is the egr returns running in from either side
The little pipe that goes nowhere to the right of the temp sensor is the coolant bleed point, theres also a bleed point on top of the header tank

As you can see once you remove a few plastic bits access to many parts is pretty good and certainly nothing to be afraid of.
