As the name may suggest, I'm thinking of sticking some inertia real belts in the front of my series 3, it's already got some of them fancy exmoor trim high back seats and a cubby so I'll just need the two. Would I need ones especially sold as series belts or could I just use any that basically aren't knackered?
Cheers guys.

I've fitted the ones from Exmoor Trim. About £35 dead easy to fit. The Series belts are a straight replacement using the same fixing points. I fitted the Inertia Reel on the top of the Bulkhead behind the seats, using a bracket also supplied by Exmoor. Took about 20 minutes to fit the whole thing.

Yeah, they sound good, just £35 each is a bit pricey, I'm just wondering if something from something else would fit.

Well if your sure your life and that of your passengers isn't worth £70. Then I suppose you could go 2nd hand. Road Vehicles This link will take you to the securon site where you can get the number for the seatbelts 500/30 I believe for series landies and check which other cars had the same belts fitted & pop down to the breakers. Try metro's etc as BL had a habit of using the same parts from different models.

My old III had the reels fitted to the bulkhead & they were bluddy uncomfortable on a long or even a medium distance run.

Even if you do get 2nd hand belts & receivers I'd at least get the diagonal brakets that Exmoor Trim sell that mount from interior roof flange to door pillar just behind the front seats. They put the belt at a comfortable & probably safer height.

I would guess that Metro belts or possibly other Rover items may bolt straight to these as they probably are common across a lot of their motors.

i used sum outta triumph acclaim, and the corner brackets was only about 6 quid each from land rover dealers, fit nice in the series

Grippa, It's only the reel that's mounted on the bulkhead, the belt then goes up to the triangular original bracket on the roof side panel, then down across to the buckle, then to the seatbox fixing. The bulkhead fixing can be used with the belt straight over the shoulder, if running a canvas tilt, but like you say that's uncomfortable.

Yeah, they already have fitted 3 point over shoulder static belts and they have the roof mounting brackets fitted so theyre comfortable, I'm tempted to go this those discotech belts on evilbay just above. Would the actual reels be easy enough to fit to the bulkhead?

Can't help you on fitting Disco belts, but it seems a lot of trouble to save £35 less what ebay costs, to maybe get something that doesn't do the job. Like Redhand says are you and your passenger worth £70. When it comes to safety, I'd always get the proper kit.
