You may recall I had some ignition lead issues and made new ones and fitted a new coil.

Well, all I can say is it must have been slowly degrading because in this last few weeks I've used the car about once a week and always for journeys of at least 50/60 miles.

Faultless! Absolutely faultless

I clean forgot I even had a sport button so pressed it the other day and thought no more of it.

Imagine my smile when I barely touched the throttle, yet she dropped a gear and shot off like a scalded rat and the rate at which she reached speed was astounding. The average MPG is getting better again too, after so long with shite performance.

Suffice to say, I'm delighted... Now all I need is to collect my new gasket and take the inlet off again to see what went wrong with the LPG injectors. Ordered it a week or so ago, but been all over the shop

Ho hum

Only thing sport button does is hold a gear longer before changing up. Driving in sport mode will cause it to drink fuel.

Well maybe I'm mistaken but what I meant was before I would put my foot down hard and the gear change seemed to take an age before it would drop a gear Now, I barely look at the throttle and she's dropping gears like a dj dropping beats.

As for the fuel consumption, I meant now its generally getting better ...

Really pleased for you @Doo :D
What lies does the long-term MPG display report now?
Mine loves to say 22+mpg on a long run after having been reset. Then it gradually shrinks down to 9-12'ish over time with all the mostly short journeys I do.
Decent ignition leads & plugs do really seem to make a difference.

The only problem at the moment is the weight! I store all my disco gear in the car because despite repeated requests to the council from whom I rent my lock up, they cant seem to get their head round the issue that a damp garage is not a good garage! I can't store the equipment in there as it gets damp. My dashboard on my Jaguar XK8 is minging because I had inadvertently left a window open (the battery goes flat so when you jump it and pull the door handle, the drop glass stays dropped). My gear is worth thousands so it's actually easier to store it in the Range Rover and when I drive about the heater sorts out any tiny drops of condensation. Also, I replaced the cabin filters again and will do so again in spring.

So, I don't get a good MPG as such, but it's gone from 10.3 to 12.2 average which is better. A long run will help that too.

But it's the smoothness that gets me smiling :) Before it was foot down, accelerate, foot down more, more still then drop a gear...

But now it's SPORT mode, foot down, drops several gears if it's all the way to the floor and off like a rat up a pipe. If gentle acceleration is required, the foot is pushed down and she goes smooooooothly. A little burst requires a little bit harder and she'll drop the gear instantly whereas before it was a time consuming wait while I watched my beard grow in the mirror o_O
