Howdy all.

So when I unlock the car, the ignition barrel lights up, ditto with sidelights I think. Its a fairly crap colour, but wheres the bulb, and whats the bulb? Im interested in replacing it with LED>

The bulb is fitted to the immobiliser transponder coil housing which is located on the ignition switch lock barrel, to access it you will need to remove the upper and lower shrouds.
From memory, it's a minature capless clear bulb (On my 2002, TD4)

Sounds like a w5w then.

Like the side lights.

Isn't it green like the rest of the switchgear?

:behindsofa:

When I had mine apart to replace the wiper switch last year, although it was working o.k. , I decided to change the bulb as a matter of course. It was a clear bulb that came out and I replaced it with the same.
It's smaller than the standard W5W capless and is around 1 watt or so...yes, it is the same size as those bulbs fitted in the switches.
:smokin::)

if you are fitting a led you need a resistor on the anode side or you will just blow it the anode wire is the longer of the 2 . hope this helps
