hello from a very experienced engineer whose just put 50 ltrs of finest 97 octane into a Freelander TD4. Didn't realize until 1 mile down the road and 2 kangaroo hops later,I turned the engine off immediately as I realized I had made a STUPID mistake.
Hopefully no damage done.
I need to immediately drain the tank.
I will have to do this, I think, in the engine bay.
can someone please help this idiot

anyway, welcome to the madhouse you may be better off posting this in the freelander section further down the page. your motor aint as easy to work on as a defender so i cant help.

take the pipe off your diesel filter and power your fuel pump up with a test probe. pump the fuel out into drums,replace the pipe and then disconnect the return pipe. put a couple of galls of diesel in and then pump this through until it clears the fuel pump and diesel runs out of the return. now change the filter, put some more fresh derv in and bleed it through. you might need to use ether to get it to run but you should be ok
