Hello again...Same recurring problem with my 1991, 3.9 RRC. All timing
set up correctly, car running like...... a car ! Then it doesn't like
pulling away at junctions...stalls and won't restart.
I've got fuel (I know this coz it floods) I have a nice bright blue
spark coming off of the plugs, it has no leaks in the vac hoses on the
dizzy. New rotor arm & dizzy cap fitted. Turns over lovely, but still
won't bloody start ! I don't really want to spend any more (£550
already) getting the timing reset, just for it to slip again. I think
that it may be the nylon sprocket on the timing chain that could be
worn, but I'm not really sure, and to get a mechanic to look at it will
cost £300+. I will do whatever needs doing, but being of a weak
womanly type, I don't think I'll be able to do it all myself, I'm also
unsure if what I suspect is correct. Can anyone help me out, both in
the diagnosis and the rectifing of my problem ? I live in Middlesex,
about 10 mins away from Heathrow. Many thanks

there is a chance that its a head gasket. or cracked head. which is ok when cold but once it warms up its opens up and loses compression. can you get a comp test done on it??

/waves over fence.

Sorry, can't help with your diagnosis, gladly lend a hand/spanner/hammer
if it comes to it.

Have you ever been to "Twickenham Off Roaders" club[1]. Some friendly,
helpful and knowledgeable folk there. Mostly Land Rover folk of course,
but they are refreshingly brand agnostic. My info is a little old - when
I was a regular they used to meet weekly at the Grasshopper Sports club
(just off the A4 at Osterly) on Wednesday evenings. In fact, I should get
my butt in gear and wander back over there again.

Well - I've done a little research. The club does still meet on Wednesday
evenings at the Grasshopper Sports club - MacFarlane Lane, Off Syon Lane,
