I have a Land Rover Series but it is heavily modified.

It has a Range Rover 3.5 V8 running a Weber DGAS 38 Carb with manual choke conversion.

It has a 5 speed LT77 and an LT230 transfer box and Range Rover classic axles giving full time 4WD and disc brakes up front (drums on the rear).

This set up can comfortably tow more than the original limit of 2000kg but I will still be bound by this limit yes?

You are governed by your VIN and how it was plated when it was manufactured, in essence, yes you are limited to 2T.
