A Yank in Lestah
...as we say in Yank land! Thought I should stop lurking and offer up an intro. Hello, I'm Tony, and I have Land Rover Disorder.

The current manifestation is a 110 with a 300Tdi that is coming together from bitsa an '84 military body and a '95 commercial and a growing list of other donors. The prior was a '92 NAS RRC, a 3.9 slushbox with an LT230 with a long list of kit for Remote Offroad Travel, aka overlanding, or what is apparently now called an "expedition". I'm old enough that when I was a kid reading National Geographic there were still unexplored parts of the world, and real "expeditions" happened. Now any trip further off the tarmac than your driveway is an "expedition", and requires $50,000 of gear and a truck on portal axles... So I say, most expeditions are just ROT.

Oops, I ranted in my intro. Well, at least now you know what to expect! :p

To continue the warnings... As noted I'm an expatriate Yank. I live in the midlands, east per the signs, but it looks smack in the middle on the map to me. Several years in Hong Kong and over a year here have still not enamored me of tea, but I like the beer here. Wrenching (spannering?) is my moment of zen, it lets my mind relax from whatever life/work is demanding. I've restored/modified a ridiculous assortment of vehicles, two and 4 wheeled, but in the last 5 or 6 years I've stuck to Landies (although a couple of my old BMW's lingered until almost 2009).

Cheers!
