How to change Brake light bulb Freelander 1?

I'm having a mare trying to get at brake light bulb on nearside of my Freelander 1 GS. Do i need to somehow loosen the '3 bolts' that hold the guard on? Do i clip off the cluster or do i go inside the rear to get at it? I've pulled off the interior covering to get at the cluster, doesn't look the right thing to do lol. What am i missing? Thanks for your help
