I"ve just recieved the Facelift Bumper I bought from a bloke in Northern Ireland to fit on to my 2003 pre facelift TD4 Auto and it"s brilliant. The only problem is, it"s the wrong colour(A light metallic blue) which I knew about when I bought it. I now have to paint it Java Black, so my question is, has anyone done this and How Much Paint did they use. I"m going to use Aerosols either 300mm or 400 mm. There isn"t that much colour to change, so do you reckon 2 cannisters will be enough?

If you are going to use Aerosols sprays I would personally make sure that is in the right temperature area, somewhere warm also prepare the bumper by rubbing it down with some fine wet & dry a few times wiping off as you go along with thinners, once you are happy with the rub down under coat it first before spraying your final colour, each time do it in very thin coats try not to cover it all in one g as you can get ripple or runs, leave that to harden off in warm area for at least 24hours, wipe off any dust etc before you add the final clear coat, good luck.

If yer just using rattle cans the paint won't have much strength. Yer need a 2k type paint or clear coat lacquer over the rattle can paint to stop it coming oft too easily and to protect it. Have a look at the video's this bloke does. It was done as a demo of what yer can do if yer want to use rattle cans. They normally do a propper job but this was a quick demo. One rattle can is worth more than the ped. ;)

The ole bloke sprays on a diy basis with a compressor but he's helped his son setup repairing cars. The son worked in a repair shop for a while to gain eggsperience before starting out on his own. He normally sprays everything with a compressor. They give out lots on tips in this vid on using rattle cans.
