Just another question.

My Clarke engine stand that I bought has a maximum weight spec of 340 kilos. Does anyone have an idea of how much the complete engine weighs?
That's block with all innards, cylinder head with inlet and outlet assembly, plus alternator and starter motor, but EXCLUDING rear plate - I just wouldn't like to end up with the stand buckling under the weight of everything and dropping the block on the floor and ballsing up my sump!

Thanks

This could be a wrong memory, but I seem to remember seeing somewhere that a series 2.25 engine was closer to 500kg. There is a lot of cast iron in an older landy engine. I think your stand will struggle, even if it's underrated for safety.

Its fine n the clarke engine stand. Its less than 340kg I think. Had no problems with it on mine, only thing is to get 2 people to turn it, one to support the weight at the front and another to turn the engine using the handle. Its stiff to turn single handed with the engine weight on it

I really should have checked this also when I took my engine out as I had my hoist set to 250kg so I could get the extra reach :)

Did the hoist collapse? I need an extra 5 cms reach (don't we all!!) to seat it on the engine mountings and it's bloody annoying me!
