On the hotwire system there's this gadget which adjusts the idle speed
according to engine load. Or that's the theory. Most of the time, mine
does. Sometimes, it decides it's going to idle at 1500, or sometimes 2000
rpm.
This *appears* to be an electronics fault rather than the stepper motor
sticking. Turning the engine off and restarting it resets it to normal
behaviour. I'd've thought that a sticky stepper motor would've stayed
stuck, once stuck, so to speak. Turning off and on clears the fault almost
without fail.
any thoughts? At some point I did the various diagnostics on throttle
position sensor and so forth, and they appeared correct.
