Hi , i am looking at getting a series 2 with a 200tdi engine fitted,

it is still registered as a 2.25 petrol ,

is it true that a historic vehicle doesn't need a engineer's report or inspection to change engine details?

so i just have to fill in v5 with new fuel type and capacity , engine no. etc..

thanks

points wise if it's only the engine u r ok as long as all else is standard (approximately) see the dvla points system, an engineers report means nothing to historic status.... an engineers report is to satisfy your insurance company all has been done safely if they require one then it is needed... historic or not

if your insurance are happy with the change then a report is not needed

cheers steve

I notified DVLA that engine was not as stated on registration doc and had to provide a garage report that the change had been done safely before they would do the changes.
Need to do it again now as just fitted a new 200DI .
Luckily my Daughters Partner has a garage business.
