Hi All
I’m a newbie and have just bought a 51 plate Freelander 1.8 GS for getting around in this ridiculous weather. My other car turned into Bambi in the snow on Saturday morning and as I had been considering it for weeks I decided to take the plunge and get my first Land Rover. So far.... superb fun and a solid car.
Since the purchase was out of necessity and a wee bit hurried I went by instinct and after consideration overlooked one or two minor points that otherwise would have been showstoppers for me. I don’t have much in the way of anything with the car (but didn’t expect to for £1700) so currently have a V5, MOT and 1 key (no remotes). My first question for those in the know is the cheapest way to get myself another key and then perhaps the luxury of the remotes. Also, any ideas where I can buy a paper copy or download and electronic copy of the User Manual? Finally, and this is bugging me.... there’s a wee silver toggle switch to the RHS of the steering wheel on the dash and I don’t know what it’s for. I’m dying to try it but am too scared.... any clues?
The beeps when I open the door I’ve already sussed (thanks). I know about the K Series engine and it’s head gasket eccentricities (I’ve had many Rover & MG cars over the years).
Hope you guys can help. I’m looking forward to learning a bit about my new toy.
Regards
John

:welcome2: wegie!
Glad to say I know nothing about gaylanders...but plenty others will be able to help.
The :search:facility is highly recommended. :)

Called wegie and gay in my first hour... good job I have a sense of humour and thick skin. Did you change yer name from Dover to Eagles by deed poll? :)
Am I seeing things or do you have a beige & brown car?

Cheers
Bluey

:D A sense of humour, and a thick skin go hand in hand with being a Wegie....I should know...I am a displaced-one!:D
As for the gaylander...you picked it - so live with the abuse!

Who passes on cars without key remotes?

Seems the oddest practice to me,
I can imagine all sorts of scenarios - most not good

Do a search for RAVE on here and you will find the dealer workshop guide thingy, you'll need to burn the ISO to cd.

Enjoy!

You can also read it/mount it (not like that!) on your pc via various means. MagicISO, daemon tools and even winrar can extract it so you can read it in pdf format. It's easier than the article makes it look! Very helpful advice here and no cd burning required :)

How to open ISO files

hi,bluey9,welcome to the madhouse, think you might have to get your spare key from the main stealer unfortunatly.although some one might differ.the remote fobs are around£30 each.then getting them synced.good luck.tim.
