hi all ive recently joined the site so would like to say hi to everyone first before i start asking for help and advice

right now thats out the way ive got a 1999 freelander 1.8i 3dr softback but im having problems with the only fob ive got for it it has two buttons on it
now it will lock the car but not unlock
it will deactivate the imobilisor off for engine to start

so when i put the key in drivers door it unlocks that door and sometimes the rear door but not passenger door

so i am wanting to check the fuse/s but the cover is missing from inside the glovebox does anyone know where i may get a copy online ?
and does anyone have any ideas where else ii may have a problem
many thanks all

Hi Sean - and welcome.

Sounds like you haven't got an owners manual / handbook.

If you register (for free) on

TOPIx - TOPIx

enter your VIN / chassis number and you'll get access to all the owner info.

Some of the stuff on that site is subscription - but what most folks are looking for is free.

Enjoy your Freelander.

I'm happy you're enjoying the Freelander.

Couple of things to keep an eye on - you'll be able to search and find more info on here.

Tyres - must all be the same size - preferably the same make - with the ones with most tread on the rear.

VCU - the viscous coupling between the 2 propshafts - have a feel of it from the driver's side after a 10 miles or so - it should be cool, or at most warm - not hot - you should be able to keep your hand on it.

Coolant level - keep an eye on the level in the expansion tank every couple of days - the 1.8 petrol engine seems to have a history of head-gasket failure.

Good luck with the key-fob.
