Hi all. My name is Ian and I have a series 2 Discovery. I only bought it in September, and to be honest I couldn't decide whether I really liked it at first. Having always had saloon cars, the Disco felt like being in a dinghy on a rough sea. Also it was fairly sluggish (diesel auto so probably quite normal ) I had it remapped by Mike Jones @ Dynachip. Wow, what a difference that made. So now I'm really warming to the beast and getting used to the roller coaster ride......until I was looking on Auto trader website and saw a Disco the same year etc as mine, and noticed it was £515 road tax. I put my own reg into the net and it gave mine as £515 also. Now I paid £295 in September so has it gone up £220 since then??? Is this a mistake or what. I'm afraid that our relationship won't last long if that's correct. No way am I paying that amount per year ! ( I am on a pension now )

Hi,

Welcome to the loonyzone, there a few mistakes regarding the figures quoted on Autotrader for the Roadtax. All D2's AFAIK are £295 per year.

You can double check it online at the .gov website.

Cheers

PS, Make sure you know you EKA code.

Depends what you're buying.
Genuine parts for everything will break your bank balance very quickly.
Island 4x4 (amongst others) for instance usually give you a choice of company (and prices)
inc - Allmakes, Bearmach, Genuine and of course B**tpart.
Britpart do supply genuine parts as well although boxed in blue (as long as theres a G at the end of the part)
for instance

I have used Britpart brake discs in the past and not had any problems with them.

Thanks Turboman. Having read quite a few of the comments, I get the point. What about Rimmer Bros? or do they use Britparts as well?

I dont think you did get the point! :) The point is some Britpart stuff is good! Like springs and wheel rims!
But some of it is teriibble like cheap service items and gaskets. You really need to be careful, research before you buy, buy their premium range if in doubt, etc.
