i live in Canada and recently imported a 2.5 n/a diesel 110 defender pickup from England. i would like to install a turbo charger to help me keep up to traffic. i purchased an exhaust manifold with a turbo charger from an UK. parts supplier and when i tried to install it, the unit hit the intake manifold. what parts do i need to purchase to complete this project , and what supplier should i buy from?
thanks Paul

Hello and welcome to landyzone.
Although you'll probably get some help if you leave this post in this section , you'll probably double your chances of getting help if you post again in the Defender section.

Lots of bods in there itching to help.

Got any pics btw ?

i think yer wasting yer time

that engine isnt designed to handle a turbo, unless it only provides a very light boost

if you did go to the trouble of bolting it all together, and you start driving it "to keep up to traffic" you'll soon be looking for a new engine

you'd be better off running the current engine untill you can find a 200Tdi to replace it with

Just adding the turbo will make hardly any difference, and to do it you must also fit the correct inlet manifold. I don't think it is possible to get the turbo in without changing BOTH manifolds.

To get more power you will need to buy an injection pump with boost compensator fitted.

By this stage the bill looks like £1,000 or so.

A couple of weeks of brisk motoring keeping up with the traffic and the crankshaft will come off the block, and then you'll need a new engine.

There must be lots of breakers' yards over there. Find something like a 2.8 Isuzu turbo engine, and buy a fitting kit to mate it to your gearbox and bits.
