Hello I need advice on my freelander hardtop tailgate window. I have had all electric workings replaced. Is the glass supposed to stay down the inch while the door is open. Mine pops up again making it a risk of breaking if the door gets shut suddenly. To close I have to hold the lever and shut it with left hand. Would appreciate any advice. Thanks

There must be a microswitch possibly in solenoid for the tail door latch which should tell the control unit the door is open. That seems to me to be the area to start looking for a fault.

Chaser is on the case here. The CCU thinks the door is closed. To prove this theory, open the back door only and observe the glass raising up again. Now use the squeaker to remote lock the car. If the doors lock and nothing else happens then the CCU really thinks the back door is closed. If it was open then the horn would Parp when you attempt to lock the car.

The lock is solenoid released with an integral position switch. This will have to come out for inspection, then repair or replacement.

The taildoor solenoid has an adjacent taildoor latch position sensor which signals latch position to CCU. The latch position sensor would appear to be sending incorrect information as the CCU is assuming taildoor closed, whilst it is in fact still open, and therefore returning the taildoor window to the fully closed position. My first step would be to lubricate all associated linkages liberally.
