Hi , I was just wondering if anyone out here has had to replace a rear
crossmember on a defender 90 200 tdi and would like to tell me the order
they went about it?, I have ordered a new one from paddocks with extensions
and would like to know how to take the tub off to gain more access for
welding or is there an easier way, thanks in advance Ian.

On a 109 it's possible to lift the rear floor by cutting one support then
refixing the support after. You will need to chock up the tub though. The
new crossmember can then be welded along the top sides and bottom with
relative ease.

Piccys amoungst these....

I am about to do the same on my 110 next weekend!

Looking at the length of the extension, on the 110 there's enough
clearance to weld without needing to lift the tub.

Cheers

Peter

Cheers Lee , will look in to this as this is what i thought first off, would
be a hell of a lot easier than lifting whole tub/sides/roof as complete
unit, any other suggestions welcomed, thanks ian.
ps jlo's looking great.

Hi Peter, I did think that there might be enough room once the extension was
in position , but as i am not the one doing the welding i just wanted to
make it as easy as possible for him, but if you reckon it would be ok to do
without removing tub then that would be easier for me, what you doing about
the loom?, good luck for next weekend, cheers Ian.

Doing a 90 crossmember with extentions is a doddle, there's not
even any need to take the floor out - there's just enought room
to get in to do the top seam.

On 110's, however,..............
