Goodness new to this but need help! 1999 disco, used as workhorse, not roadworthy alternator doesn’t work so charging battery to use for water runs to horses. New battery but it’s immobilized. How do I start it? Live in France , anyone around to help cos I’m not mechanically minded!

Bit far from us sadly, we are in the south-eastern corner of the Tarn.

Are you sure the new battery is fully charged and connected up the right way round? and the terminals are on really tight?
Is changing the battery the ONLY thing you have done to it?
