Currently restoring an early 90 with 300tdi engine and rear axle. I'm working from the back forwards. All stripped down, rear brakes, half shaft removed (oil looked to be in perfect condition).

The calipers look like they've been at the bottom of the sea for thirty years, the discs are well grooved. It all needs replacing. I've found this on ebay:
LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 1 300 TDi NEW REAR BRAKE DISCS, PADS FITTING KIT, DISC SET | eBay

Am I right to be wary? Britpart quoted me at £48+VAT for the discs alone although they were the fancy grooved ones. What do you all suggest?

Also, looking at suspension and bushes. Would like to do polybushes or equivalent - recommendations?

Suspension - possibly standard or 2" lift, not decided yet but the Terrafirma kit looks to be popular. Again, recommendations please :)

Tbh the britpart disc's are very good herd good things about them and just fitted 4 x bp disc's to mine from paddocks but with mintex pads which all came in both front and rear kits think each kit was about £40-£45 per kit :)

Bp discs are that good my mate fitted some to his 90 approx 18 mths ago, then stood it up as chassis corroded, then fitted all dew discs to replace the bp ones as they had gone rusty! I told him he was a poof and used them on my car, 6 mths later still good, lets be honest its not as though defender brakes have to work hard is it?
Pads and discs are now as cheap as chips for just about any car

As above, shop around as the difference in price for exactly the same item can be very significant. Also several parts suppliers don't charge P&P for orders over £50 (not inc VAT) and when it comes to heavy items such as discs this can be quite a saving.

Fitted BP vented / slotted / drilled discs & Mintex pads to the front of my wife's Freelander a couple of years ago and have found them to be excellent, so much so that 16-months ago I fitted the same set up to the front of my 90 and BP slotted / drilled discs & Mintex pads to the rear. Stopping power can only be described as awesome.
